The DeBellis family
has been in the deli business for over 80 years. Our
late great uncles, Mike and Lou, were both butchers
in the Bronx. The family moved from the Bronx up to
Carmel, New York, where Uncle Nick opened our
family's first deli Mountain Top Market. This
is where the third generation of deli workers were
trained. Fourteen first cousins all worked
for Uncle Nick during high school and college. Uncle
Nick ran a tight ship; everything had to be clean
and fresh. He was an old school boss, the kind
that you did not want to disappoint. We have a
great deal of respect and admiration for Uncle Nick
for the countless lessons we learned under his wing.
(As a matter of fact, from time to time you will see
Uncle Nick hanging around the deli's,
''putting out fires.'')
In 1993, with the
blessing of Uncle Nick, our father Joe
DeBellis decided to open up DeBellis Brothers' Deli
and Catering in Carmel. His plan was to give his
five sons an opportunity to make a living.
This store was the talk of the town for many years
and is still referred to as the one of the best
Italian delis in the area. In 2000, all
of the boys decided to follow their own dreams.
Rocco currently has a café in Carmel named Ciao
Bella; Joe has recently opened a deli in Carmel
named DeBellis Round 2; Kenny, Mike, and Roberto own
Primas Italian Deli and Catering; and youngest
brother Vinny is hiding in Florida, but when we find
him, he is on the schedule. Our family would like to
thank you for allowing us the opportunity to serve
you. If there is anything we can do to make
your life easier, please let us know and we will do
our very best. At Primas Deli
